Obituary for Estelle Parker Wall

Print
Estelle Virginia Parker Wall passed away on September 17, 2018 with her loving daughter Marcheta by her side. She was born on April 22, 1932 to the late Ernest and Vercil Parker in the community of Bucktown, a beautiful area in rural Gilmer County, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jackson (Jack) Parker.
Estelle Parker graduated from Ellijay High School in Ellijay, Georgia on May 22, 1950. She was valedictorian of her graduating class. Her love of school was something that stayed with her throughout her life. She graduated from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia in August of 1954 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She taught two years at Tickanetley Elementary, one year at Oakland Elementary in Gilmer County, and one year at Franklin Elementary in Murray County.
After marrying John Douglas Wall, Estelle moved to Canton, GA. They had one daughter, Marcheta. Estelle taught 8th grade English and was also a media specialist at North Canton Elementary (later renamed Tippens Elementary). She spent 31 years there and met lifelong friends that she treasured and loved. She was the 8th grade English teacher for both Marcheta and her son in law, Brian Glenn Forrester.
After six years of marriage, Estelle found herself a single parent raising Marcheta. She was a perfect mother and was always very giving and selfless. She loved being with her grandchildren, Kelly and Kyle. She played all kinds of games with them and would set up her back porch with lots of activities when they came to visit. As she did with Marcheta, she always wanted the best for them.
Estelle enjoyed genealogy research and was the past president of the Gilmer County Genealogical Society. She spent hours researching her family as well as others in Gilmer County and helped with several books published by the genealogical society. Within this group, she made friends whom she loved and treasured.
Estelle was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, now located in Adairsville, Georgia. She loved her church family, and they held a very special place in her heart.
She is survived by her daughter Marcheta (Brian) Forrester, grandchildren Kelly (Ryan) Kaysen, Kyle Forrester, niece Vanessa (Jackie) Beavers, and great nephews Brandon Beavers and Justin (Melanie) Beavers.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at Magnolia Estates of Oconee and St. Mary's Hospice House for all their loving care and support.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at South Canton Funeral home on Saturday September 22, 2018. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour on Saturday. Internment will follow at Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church in Bucktown, Georgia.
