Terry Madison  Kerns
Terry Madison Kerns died peacefully at WellStar Kennestone Hospital on 11 November, 2017 in Kennesaw, Ga., at the age of 68.

He is survived by his mother Erline Mason Kerns (Marietta, Ga.), three children, Robert and wife Regan (Garner, N.C.), Colin and wife Melissa (Smyrna, Ga.) and Ronnie and wife Karen (Sulphur Springs, Texas) as well as seven grandchildren Jessie, Derek, Sabrina, Darin, William, Chloe and Lane.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Sharyn Joy Kerns.

Terry was born in 1949 in Rome, Ga., to Robert and Erline Kerns. After graduating from East Rome High School in 1967 he joined the United States Navy. After completing Electronics Technician School, ET3 Kerns was assigned to the commissioning crew of the USS Newport (LST 1179) in Philadelphia, Pa. Follow-on assignments included duty stations in London, England, Rota, Spain (USS Simon Lake (AS-33) and Charleston, S.C. Terry separated honorably from the Navy in the late 1970's achieving the rank of Electronic Technician 1st Class.

After separation from the Navy Terry worked for Tandem Computers/Hewlitt Packard until his retirement.

Terry was a true renaissance man with a varied number of hobbies. An avid reader and gardener for a number of years, he was also an accomplished salt water angler. He was civicly involved in his adopted second home in Mexico Beach, Fla.

Terry will be remembered for sharing his homes in Canton, Ga., and Mexico Beach, Fla., with family and friends, his ever expanding garden and love for his grandchildren.

A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday 15 November at 6 p.m. with the funeral to follow on Thursday 16 November at 2 p.m., both at the South Canton Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Terry's life.
